The one thing the iPhone desperately needs is an “under the covers laying on your side trying to do stuff without disturbing the other people* in the bed auto-rotate override” mode.
Someone get on that, would you?
*Yeah, what about it?

YES TOTALLY. Every morning, before I get up, I check e-mail and twitter from bed, but trying not to disturb my sleeping husband. The auto rotate drives me nuts!

Jailbreak your iphone and install SBPrefs and Rotation inhibitor. An awesome tool.

Adobe just took flash to the next level

Something tells me this is going to yield a new dawn of shitty $0.99 apps.

You can make this already if you jailbreak your phone.

Just not jailbroken for the 3GS yet. But it’s only a matter of time.

Hitchcock - Mobile storyboarding for your iphone

You never know when or where your ideas happen. So why wouldn’t you want to have the ability to capture your ideas when you want to? With Hitchcock you can. It lives on your phone so it’s always there. That is the simple convenience of Hitchcock.

Bought it the second I heard about it. Not much of a screenwriter or film maker myself yet, but a) it’s super-fun to use and learn and b) it’s nice to know it’s there when inspiration first strikes.

Also interesting for comic folks and visual thinkers of all stripes

Fucking brilliant, buying now.

Edit: At $20 it’s not quite an impulse level purchase. But strongly considering it.

I will not spend money on iron curtains, no matter how nice the pattern.

I am so sick of iTunes corrupting my music all the goddamn time. It’s getting absurd. I really wish there was some other software that would work with my iPhone.

Is $99 that big a deal?

I find it strange that everyone seems to be making such a big deal about the existance of a $99 iPhone. On the outset it’s simple, $99 for a 3G that’s sweet, what could be wrong. People are getting a great device for an even more incredible price.

To me the limiting factor of the iPhone, since the launch of the 3G, has not been the cost of the device itself but the monthly fee associated. The 3G and 3GS bring with it a $30-$50 monthly cost associated with it. With such a high monthly premium for the device an extra $100 to get the S seems to me to be a no-brainier. The monthly cost also seems like it should be the primary reason to dissuade someone from purchasing.

The original iPhone at $20/month including some texting was an incredible deal. Yea edge isn’t as good as 3G but is it worth the extra 75% in cost to get a little faster internet, probably not. But being the fanboy I am i went along with it. The upgrades from the iPhone to the 3GS are definitely worth the cost of the device but I can’t help but feel a little disgusted by how much AT&T is getting from these phones while still screwing everyone over.
