Man the Yankee’s parade really screwed me. Had to take a nasty detour though Chinatown and wound up ruining my derailer. Had to walk the rest of the way to work.

An Eerie Glow
Looking out my window into the finantial district with the thick clouds from the day of storms there is something distinct about what i’m seeing. It’s a gradient of an eerie white light coming from the parking garage just to the side of ground zero.
I’ve always loved the feel of cities at night, the thickness in the air that catches all the light just makes it more beautiful. It would have been a beautiful night regardless but the two beacons gave it a glow that was all the more incredible.
I’ll have many more great views out my window but the one this evening was just slightly better, even though I can’t really see anything different. The peak of light around the Chase Manhattan building is just enough.
The photo above is of one of the arrays of spotlights from below on the west side highway. Sorry for the poor quality, took me a second to get my iPhone out.
Is that the financial district? It looks so incredibly different right now. (via jhnbrssndn)
Monoscope discovers Peter Root’s work:
Low-Rise is a precarious assemblage of thousands of free-standing stacks of staples densely tessellated to create a city-like mosaic. Like a city, the staples are subject to the elements, on a micro scale. The slightest breath or vibration and the domino effect kicks in.

I’m visiting NYC this weekend to see a friend interning in the city over the summer. I know a lot of Tumblrs are in New York and I was wondering if I could get some locals to tell me what some fun things to do or some nice places to visit.
Either reblog this or click the permalink to leave me a comment.
Thanks in advance!
