Hulu labs is extremely interesting. They have a very well polished desktop player that will no doubt compete with boxee/plex as well as some other interesting features.
The only thing hulu desktop lacks is the ability to play local media. I also wonder if this app will open up a backend way for xbmc to hack in. What’d be awesome is if hulu made official plugins for xbmc.

In a sign of just how little success Google has had at monetizing YouTube, a research firm is predicting that Hulu will surpass it in US revenue next year. Screen Digest estimates that YouTube will…Hulu f’ing rules. They can run all the ads they want. The user experience and content is top notch.
Hulu is great, and the next step I’d like to see them take is to compete with Netflix. Have higher quality streams available to go to set top boxes hooked up to TVs. Larger back catalogs would also be great, however I understand that this is up to the studios.

I just went back to Hulu after having not used it since I got into the beta a while back. I must say I’m very impressed. The video quality and selection is pretty good, the ads are very reasonable too.
The biggest issue I see coming forward with Hulu is content, the content isnt that great compared to on demand services and the worst part is some shows only have clips up. If I were hulu I would only put up full length content that actually have a chance of being watched (so not 3 random episodes out of 100s of Simpson’s episodes). The biggest threat to Hulu may just be that it’ll become a deluge of crappy content making the signal to noise ratio unacceptable.
All in all you should definitely give this a shot next time you’re bored.

I’ve been using Hulu for a while now, it’s pretty cool. Better quality then youtube by far, maybe even better then Vimeo. It’s not going to replace my warez though. It’s useful for the shows it has on there, my favorite is watching Conan since it’s on at the same time as TDS for me.
